UAE reports sixth and seventh flu H1N1 cases

Abu Dhabi June 24, 2009 (WAM) - The UAE Ministry of Health announced yesterday the sixth case of flu H1N1 of a national woman arriving from abroad with her family. A Chinese child coming from abroad was also reported to have infected with the virus ''The condition of the infected woman and child, who are now receiving necessary treatment at the hospital, is stable, a ministry statement said, affirming that all members of the women's family ''are safe'' as she didn't contract the infection to anyone of them.
It added that the fifth case which was reported few days ago had completely recovered and left the hospital. The ministry noted that many infected countries including the US and Mexico had announced a decline in reported cases of flu H1N1.
The ministry said that the Arab World has so far registered 180 cases, which is a meagre percentage as compared to a population of 300 million people. The World Health Organisation figures showed that ratio of death toll to infection stood at 44 per cent, which is lower than mortality of normal flu.
