PM Meets His Armenian Counterpart

Baghdad / NINA /- Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani met this Friday evening with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, on the sidelines of his participation in the Munich Security Conference 2024.

During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries were reviewed, and ways to enhance them and strengthen the economic partnership, for the benefit of the Iraqi and Armenian peoples.

The meeting also witnessed a discussion of the regional and international situation, and a review of the events in Gaza. The two sides stressed that the continuation of regional conflicts confirms the inability of the international system to address these issues, maintain the security and stability necessary for development and prosperity of peoples, and confront economic and climate challenges.

The Prime Minister pointed to the continuous development in the levels of cooperation between the two countries, the necessity of establishing a joint Iraqi-Armenian council, strengthening the role of the private sector in creating mutual economic opportunities, and activating direct air traffic between Iraqi and Armenian airports, as well as resuming the meetings of the joint committee.

For his part, Pashinyan conveyed the greetings of Armenian President Vahagen Khachaturian to al-Sudani, and his desire to visit Iraq as soon as possible in order to expand the horizons of cooperation between the two countries, and to look forward to consolidating the partnership with Iraq./End
