The President of the Arab Parliament confirms his full support for Iraq

Baghdad / NINA / -The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi, confirmed the Arab Parliament’s full support for Iraq.

 The Arab Parliament’s media office said in a statement: “The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi, met today on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Conference for South-South Cooperation, which is hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, Acting Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament.”

 Al-Asomi said, during the meeting: “Iraq faces many challenges in light of the repercussions the region is going through,” stressing “the necessity of joining all efforts to support Iraq and stand with it to overcome this dangerous stage that threatens the security and stability of the region as a whole.”

 He stressed, "The Arab Parliament is keen to enhance cooperation and coordination with the Iraqi Parliament in all fields, especially with Iraq chairing the current period of the Arab Parliamentary Union, which contributes to opening new horizons for cooperation with Arab parliaments and coordinating efforts and positions in all regional and international forums to support Arab issues and confront current challenges, which the region going through, most notably the situation in the Gaza Strip."

 He stressed "the Arab Parliament's full support for the Republic of Iraq," stressing that "Iraq is a pivotal country, and its stability is a pillar of the region's security."

 He warned of "the danger of expanding the conflict in the region," calling for "the necessity of activating the role of Arab parliamentary diplomacy in working to limit the repercussions of these conflicts that affect the security and stability of the region."

 For his part, Al-Mandalawi appreciated the efforts made by the Arab Parliament in all its regional and international participations to support and defend the security and stability of the Arab countries and to activate Arab parliamentary diplomacy, especially the Palestinian issue.

 He expressed his "appreciation for Al-Asomi and the Arab Parliament's standing with Iraq in all the circumstances it is going through, and it is a subject of respect and appreciation by everyone."/ End
