Iraq And Malaysia Discuss Ways To Enhance Joint Cooperation In Various Fields

Baghdad / NINA / -Undersecretary of the Minister of Planning for Technical Affairs, Maher Hammad Johan, discussed today, Monday, with a delegation from the Malaysian embassy in Iraq, ways to enhance cooperation and develop bilateral relations between the two countries in various development fields.

 During the meeting, according to a statement by the Ministry, a number of topics related to activities between the two countries were discussed, the most important of which was expanding the horizons of cooperation in the field of investment, enhancing investment opportunities, and paving the way for leading Malaysian companies to enter the Iraqi market and work in it in various fields and sectors.

 The statement added: “The two sides discussed preparing a cooperation mechanism through the work of the bilateral committee between the two sides, which has not held its meetings since 2008 until now,” indicating that the Iraqi side is preparing to hold a second meeting of the committee in the second quarter of the current year, 2024.

 The meeting discussed other topics, including (education, health, services, infrastructure, and petrochemicals).

 Johan stressed the ministry's great interest in expanding the horizons of cooperation with the Malaysian side in various sectors, while the Chargé d'Affairs at the Malaysian embassy in Iraq, Muhammad Shahir bin Sabraldin, stressed his government's great keenness to work jointly to invest in investment opportunities in Iraq./End
