The President receives an Azerbaijani minister and stresses the importance of strengthening and developing bilateral relations

Baghdad / NINA/ -The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad today, Monday, the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Mikail Japarov, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the President stressed, according to a statement from his media office, the importance of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the necessity of working to develop and strengthen them in a way that achieves the common interests of all.

He pointed out that Iraq is looking forward to the entry of Azerbaijani companies into the local market and the enhancement of investment cooperation opportunities, especially after the signing of several memorandums of understanding between the two countries during his visit to Azerbaijan last November, and what these memorandums of understanding constitute an important start for building bridges of cooperation in the economic, tourism, cultural fields, and air transport, in a way that guarantees the interests of the two peoples.

For his part, Minister Japarov expressed his happiness at visiting Iraq, praising the successful visit made by the President of the Republic to Azerbaijan recently and its importance in strengthening bilateral relations.  He also stressed his country's desire to establish the best relations with Iraq in various fields./End
