Iraq And Turkey Hold Meetings In Ankara To Discuss Technical Issues Related To The Development Road Project

Baghdad /NINA/- Iraq and Turkey held meetings in Ankara to discuss technical issues related to the Development Road Project.

The Iraqi embassy in Ankara stated: “The Iraqi delegation, headed by the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Transport Affairs, Nasser Al-Asadi, and the membership of Younis Khaled Jawad, Director General of the General Railway Company, Safaa Jabbar Nasser, Director of the Development Road Project, and Ahmed Jassim Muhammad, representative of the Customs Authority, held meetings with Burak Ikan, Director General of External Relations and European Affairs at the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Hosni Delmer, Director General of Imports at the Turkish Ministry of Trade, and Veysi Kurt, Director General of Turkish Railways.

In the meetings, technical issues were discussed in detail, and the rates of progress achieved by Iraqi institutions in implementing the plans they had drawn up and future procedures related to the project for the year (2024) were reviewed. The meetings also discussed the two countries’ efforts to open a border crossing between the two countries, and they agreed to implement the railway and road route, and opened a special office for the development road project in Baghdad and Ankara.

At the conclusion of the meetings, the two sides signed minutes of the meeting that included the points that were agreed upon in the technical meetings, in addition to holding meetings (monthly) alternately in both countries.

The meetings were attended by employees of the Political Department at the Iraqi Embassy in Ankara, and the Commercial Attaché Dr. Muthanna Al-Janabi./End
