Foreign Minister lauds the role of Bahraini journalists

Manama, May 6 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Foreign Affairs Minister and chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, lauded the longstanding history of Bahraini journalism known for its professionalism, integrity and responsibly reflecting the nation's values and identity.

 

The minister said that Bahraini journalism has contributed effectively to the comprehensive development process, led His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

 

In remarks on Bahraini Press Day, Dr. Al Zayani expressed appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the 10th Bahraini Press Day. He added that the occasion reflected the leadership's support for free and responsible journalism and the recognition of the important work done by Bahraini journalists and media personnel.

 

The minister praised the message delivered by His Majesty the King on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day. He said the message affirmed HM King Hamad's appreciation for the national press and its commitment to the constitutional and legal framework, as well as its adherence to principles of integrity, responsibility. He added that the message also underscored the important role of journalism in the kingdom’s progress and promoting its role on a regional level, particularly with Manama's selection as the Capital of Arab Media for 2024 and the preparations to host the 33rd Arab Summit this month.

 

The minister congratulated the Ministry of Information, the National Communication Center (NCC), the Bahraini Journalists Association, the press, media institutions, columnists, professionals, and young talents on this national occasion and wished them ongoing success investing in advancements in digital media and artificial intelligence.

 

Dr. Al Zayani expressed the ministry's pride in working with diplomatic missions, the press, and the media to boost Bahrain's position as a democratic nation that upholds rights and freedoms;  fosters tolerance, peaceful coexistence;  and supports sustainable development goals in line with the Government Plan and the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026).
