INFLUENZA A (H1N1) OUTBREAK UNDER CONTROL - MINISTER

KOTA BAHARU (Malaysia), July 13 (Bernama) -- Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai
said the Influenza A (H1N1) outbreak in the country was under control although
the number of positive cases has reached more than 700.

Most of the positive cases reported in the country are imported cases while
a number of them are locally transmitted cases and most of the cases had been
treated and that the recovery rate was very high.

"The overall situation is well under control and we hope it won't continue
to spread," said Liow after opening a convention for Visitors and Advisory Board
for Kelantan Hospitals, Kota Baharu, the capital city of east coast Kelantan
state in Peninsular Malaysia Monday.

He added that six confirmed cases were registered in Kelantan and 17 in
Terengganu (another East Coast state), but advised the public not to worry or
panic as the situation was well under control.

Apart from being concerned with H1N1, people must also be aware of diseases
or sickness that are not contagious like diabetes, high blood pressure and heart
diseases.

The public must always practice a healthy lifestyle to avoid such sickness,
he said.
