MALAYSIA`S FLU INFECTION UNDER CONTROL IN IPT

TEMERLOH (Malaysia), July 18 (Bernama) -- The influenza A (H1N1) infection
in the institutions of higher learning (IPT) in the country is under control,
said Deputy Higher Education Minister Saifuddin Abdullah.

He said the Standard Operating Procedure adopted by IPTs in detecting H1N1
patients was effective and the Higher Education Ministry and the Health Ministry
would continue to monitor the situation.

So far only Mara University of Technology Mara Lendu, Alor Gajah is closed
until July 24 as several students were tested positive for the flu, he told
reporters after opening the Putra University, Malaysia's agricultural experts
open day here Saturday.

In another development, Saifuddin urged IPTs to share their expertise and
research with the people through community programmes.
