UAE SCHOOLCHILDREN TO RECEIVE H1N1 VACCINATION

By Muin Abdul Majid

DUBAI, July 29 (Bernama) -- Authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
have decided to vaccinate over 600,000 schoolchildren against the Influenza
A(H1N1) virus.

"This is a decision we have made to prevent the spread of the virus," Health
Ministry director-general Dr Ali Ahmed bin Shakar was quoted as saying by The
National.

The daily reported that the immunisation process would get underway, once
the vaccine was ready, probably by late September.

All public and private schoolchildren aged five and above would be required
to get the anti-swine flu vaccination.

Meanwhile, state media WAM reported that the National Supervisory Committee
for Combating Swine Flu had not issued any resolution, demanding resident
expatriates to produce a medical certificate proving they were free of the H1N1
virus, upon returning to the country.

It quoted a health official as saying that news about this matter was false.
