ADAM MALIK HOSPITAL ADMITS ANOTHER SWINE FLU SUSPECT

Medan, July 31 (ANTARA) - The Adam Malik General Hospital here on Friday again received another person suspected to have been infected with the influenza type A (H1N1) virus.

Hospital spokesman Atma Wijaya said the swine flu suspect came from PTPN-II Tembakau Deli hospital at 11 local time on Friday morning.

He said the patient, identified by his initial as L (23), was having a fever and coughing when he was admitted to the hospital.

"The patient who had recently arrived from Malaysia is now being treated in an isolation room because he has high temperature," Atma Wijaya said.

Earlier, on Monday, July 27, 2009, the hospital also received two people suspected to have been infected with the H1N1 virus.

According to Atma Wijaya, the two patients on Monday were identified by their initials as D (29) and Y (28).

They arrived at the Adam Malik General Hospital straight from Polonia airport where they disembarked from flights from Thailand and Malaysia.

Atma Wijaya said D hailed from Tebing Tinggi, North Sumatra, while Y from Bireun district in Aceh.

He said D and Y developed high temperatures, flu, and cough soon after after returning from holidays in Thailand and Malaysia.

But Atma Wijaya said the two patients finally tested negative for swine flu and therefore they had been discharged from the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry said early this week that the number of people infected with the H1N1 virus in Indonesia had reached 416,and one of them had died.

The Health Ministry said that since the first sine flu case was detected on June 24, 2009, the number of swine flu victims had continued to rise and by Monday night the number had reached over 444.
