State of Ingushetian president`s health improving

NAZRAN, August 1 (Itar-Tass) -- The state of Ingushetian President
Yunus-Bek Yevkurov's health is improving, the republic's Prime Minister
Rashid Gaisanov, who is temporarily acting Ingushetian president, told a
press conference in Magas on Friday.
Yevkurov is under treatment in a Moscow clinic after he was heavily
wounded in an attack in Ingushetia.
Gaisanov plans to visit the president in the hospital next week, when
he is taken from the reanimation ward. Gaisanov said he talked with the
president by telephone every day and discussed with him the situation in
the republic and social and economic development issues.
Yevkurov marked his 46th birthday on July 30.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev congratulated him. Medvedev phoned
the Ingushetian president from aboard the plane on the way to Tajikistan
where he headed for a working visit. Medvedev wished Yevkurov soonest
recovery and return to work. The Ingushetian president assured he felt
better, was recovering and prepared to return to his duties as the
republic's president.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Thursday visited the
Vishnevsky surgery institute, where the Ingushetian president is under
treatment, to congratulate him on his birthday. Putin told Yevkurov that
the government decided to open a new federal programme to support the
republic.
Yevkurov received many congratulatory telegrammes from Ingushetian
residents and representatives of authorities with wishes of soonest
recovery.
The attempt on Yevkurov's life was committed on June 22. A car with
explosives struck his car on the Caucasus federal road in Nazran. The
Ingushetian president was severely injured in the explosion.

.Avtovaz halts production for month.

SAMARA, August 1 (Itar-Tass) -- Avtovaz from this Saturday halts the
car production for a month, the plant press service said.
The committee of the plant workers' union agreed on the decision taken
to bring the production volumes into conformity with the demand on the
market and to reduce expenditures without job cuts.
Avtovaz workers will be paid for the halt period from August 1 to 31
in accordance with the Russian Labour Code -- two thirds of a worker's
average wage.
During the period, workers at the plant will conduct repair, equipment
maintenance work and preparations for winter work.
