President’s business trip to Atyrau
Atyrau, October 02 2009, Khabar - This year’s Road Map programme has provided the country with over 400 thousand new jobs. 1,349 housing and communal management items as well as 3 thousand schools, 500 hospitals and out-patients’ clinics, one thousand kilometers of roads and 428 social infrastructure facilities have all been repaired under the programme as well. Over 200 000 yards, parks and squares were overhauled and 3 million trees were planted. These are preliminary results of Road Map state program. It was Nursultan Nazarbayev who inspected the quality of the work done in Atyrau. The President has launched new gas and turbine station in oil capital and opened maternity hospital and ice palace. Now the Atyrau region faced a baby-boom.
Gulsum Yusupova, doctor:
- Birth rate increase during five years and about 1000 babies are born every year. This demonstrates stability in the country and not only young but also older women give a birth. Being the mother of three sons, I am very grateful to our President for stability in the country. I always wanted to say this.
Rising birth rates in the Atyrau region uncovered the regions’ lack of maternity hospitals. Now, the region has a new maternity hospital. This is a 3 billion tenge maternity hospital meeting all modern quality standards. All of its equipment is from Germany and the United States.
Ulzhan Khasan, chief doctor of maternity hospital:
- This equipment presents all the conditions. Earlier we didn’t have such equipment with moisturizer. Babies are often born with some difficulties and now we have everything to help them. So, our maternity hospital is now equipped with all technologies and we are not behind of world maternity hospitals.
The hospital’s staff is also made up of only highly qualified people most of whom studied aboard. Young specialists are also welcomed in the region with new flats allocated especially for them.
In the near future, the Atyrau region is to see 10 more medical institutions while the existing ones are being repaired and equipped with modern equipment. Today, Atyrau looks wonderful with its broad avenues, well-organised parks, modern buildings and new micro-districts. Now, the city has its own ice palace which was recently completed for ice hockey players and figure skating masters. Now, the Atyrau region is expected to have an ice hockey team as the development of sports is among the priority directions in the President’s policy. Nursultan Nazarbayev is known for his love of tennis, golf, and skiing which he promotes for the people of Kazakhstan to go in for too.

- In general, two more such complexes will be built in the region. And coachers will be able to train children because earlier we lacked sport facilities.
The head of state frequently visits different regions to personally inspect the implementation of the Road Map programme. This largest ever programme in Kazakhstan has made it possible to solve some acute issues in all regions. Now, the Atyrau region is repairing its roads and engineering mains, building bridges and social infrastructure items. 96% of regional residents are supplied with gas due to the Road Map programme. 10,5 billion tenge was allocated to the region and 36 large projects were already realized with opening of 11 000 new workplaces.

- If to speak about students, last year more than 2000 students received financial aid as a payment for their studying. Recently over 250 teachers and 260 medical men received flats.

- We are businessmen are glad with dynamic development of small and medium-sized businesses in the region despite crisis. We feel real support of the state.
While in Atyrau, Nursultan Nazarbayev also launched a gas turbine station. The 16.5 billion tenge facility was built to fully supply the region with its own energy without having to import any from abroad.
Orazgali Kyrzhigenov, chairman of board of directors of Atyrau heat electropower station:
- Development of regional energy will cause development of economy, creating of new workplaces and attraction of youth. We feel stability now.
Antonina Nurgaliyeva, master of workshop:
- Firstly, it supposes workplaces for our youth. Our salary was increased, for example, my salary is enough for me. My two children study at Institute of Oil and Gas and that’s why energy is our future.

- New plants are opened in Kazakhstan during crisis. This gas turbine station is very important for the region and we close the deficit. We mustn’t forget we achieve such successes due to the stability in our society.

- We have never built so much housing in our republic before. In your region alone, 174 thousand square metres of housing have been constructed this year. 900 kilometres of roads were repaired. - Our grandchildren go to new schools due to Road Map programme and it is a great joy for us.
