COMCEC ECONOMIC SUMMIT STARTS IN ISTANBUL

Ankara, November 9 (AzerTAc). Heads of state and government from ten countries are in attendance at the 25th session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (COMCEC Economic summit) held in Istanbul. Azerbaijan is represented by Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov.
Making opening remarks at the event, Turkish President told the overall economic situation of the OIC countries, explaining that 22 of the world’s 49 most underdeveloped countries are members of the OIC. According to him, the share of trade among OIC member countries in the overall foreign trade of organization member countries reached about 16 percent.
Gul said Turkey places a particular emphasis on establishment of peace and stability in the South Caucasus. To achieve this, he said, it is needed to solve existing conflicts.
