Iranian Silver Bear winner acting in Bollywood

TEHRAN, Nov. 30 (MNA) -- Iranian Silver Bear winner Reza Naji is acting in the leading role in the Bollywood film “Autumn”.

Directed by Aamir Bashir, the film has a social-familial theme, with Naji starring in the role of an Indian policeman.

“I speak in Hindi and Urdu during the movie with the help of a Hindi language teacher and a translator,” Naji told the Persian service of Fars News Agency on Monday.

The film’s cast and crew are Indians and the movie is being shot in Kashmir and India, he added.

“I began acting November 13 in India and the major part of the movie has been shot. I will be returning to India with Majid Majidi for playing the remainder,” he said.

Reza Naji, born in Tabriz in 1942 began his artistic career when he was twenty, playing in several short films and provincial TV programs. He is not a graduate of cinema, of course.

Actor Naji won the Silver Bear award for best actor in director Majid Majidi’s “The Song of Sparrows” at the 58th Berlin Film Festival.

He has acted in a number of movies including Majidi’s “Baran” and “The Weeping Willow,” Mojtaba Raei’s “Birth of a Butterfly” and Iraj Karimi’s “Kandelus Gardens”.
