Meeting of heads of the CIS Customs Services

Nizhnyi Novgorod, June 11, 2008, Khabar - The Customs Services of CIS intend to activate their cooperation with the aim to simplify customs procedures and improve safety along the CIS borders.
These issues were the key ones to discuss at a recent
meeting of the heads of the CIS Customs Services in Nizhniyi Novgorod city. The forum's participants discussed the issues concerning the international legal base of the states of CIS and exchanged information about the goods and transport means, crossing the customs borders.
They also discussed the procedures arisen from the
joining in the Kyoto convention, which is a kind of global standard of simplified customs registration and harmonization of the customs procedures.
The main outcome of the meeting was creation of a committee of the heads of the law enforcements organs of the CIS states aimed at optimization of interaction of the customs organs to implement the interstate programmes of fighting terrorism, drug smuggling, and
illegal migration.
Mira Maupasheva, Acting Head of the Customs Service Representation of RK in the RF:
-It enables all the law enforcements divisions of the CIS to jointly work to reveal violations in the possible fastest manner. First of all, it concerns goods and transport vehicles smuggling. (Khabar Agency)
