A two-day international partnership meeting of the Mongolia’s Red Cross Society (MRCS) has taken place in Ulaanbaatar city.
The meeting has brought together 18 delegates of the national Red Cross Societies from Australia, Great Britain, China, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Japan and Switzerland.
Mongolia is a member of both the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society that join 189 countries of the world, and the MRCS /Mongolian Red Cross society/ is belonged to the Asia-Pacific branch of these societies.
Hence, the societies’ regional director Mr Martin Faller attended the meeting in Ulaanbaatar. Moreover, ambassadors of some countries to Mongolia have participated in the meeting, attaching a great importance to it. It has been considered that the meeting has a great importance for further activities of the MRCS /Mongolian Red Cross society/ and bringing humanitarian actions into a new volume.
Mr Faller said that Mongolia urgently needs to consider humanitarian aid matter in the state policy according to many reports delivered at the meeting. For instance, Mongolia has been ranked 2nd in the world out of 169 nations by the number of disaster affection. So, the country has launched an alteration of the law on emergency.
Actions of the MRCS are rated high not only in the region but also at the international level. Until today, the national society has not received a financing from the state budget, and has been running its activities with international support.
