The Khaan Gate has been erected on the Marshal Bridge in the Khan-Uul district of the capital city of Mongolia on the occasion of the 2220th anniversary of the Huns Empire, 805th anniversary of the Great Mongol Empire, the centennial jubilee of the National liberation movement and the 90th anniversary of the People’s Revolution.
The unique in the world Khaan Gate made of iron with an inscription “Let Mongolia develop and prosper for eternity” is decorated with steel iron patterns idely used during the 12th and 13th centuries.
In many countries there are good traditions of erecting gates of honor demonstrating distinctive features of a country. For instance, these are the Arch of Triumph in Paris, the Triumphal Gate in Moscow, and the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.
The Gate is named as Khaan Gate for having seal symbols of 32 generation families of Mongolian Khaans. Placed on top of the gate is the state Soyombo on the lotus flower symbolizing Mongolia’s independence, eternal existence, land, water, and space.
The street whee the Khaan Gates is built was named the Street of Great Mongolia in accordance with a decision of the Ulaanbaatar city administration in 2007. The Khaan Gate is 19 meter width and 13.5 meter tall made of strong cement columns and is capable of passing vehicles freely I four lines and the impressive construction is attractive of foreign guests and tourists with its historical contents.
