Erected in honor of Shah Ismail Khatai's grandfather Sheikh Juneyd, a 16th century Mausoleum is one of the most important historical and architectural monuments of Azerbaijan’s Gusar district.
Every year more than 800 local and foreign tourists visit the Mausoleum located in the Hazra village in Qusar region. Sheikh Juneyd, who was buried in the Mausoleum, was Sheikh of Safavid dynasty. Sheikh Juneyd was defeated by Shirvanshah Khalilullah, when he intended to invade Shirvan region. During the battle at the Gipchaq village which is located on the left bank of the Samur River in 1460, the Safavid’s army was defeated and Sheikh Juneyd was killed. Sheikh's followers took his corpse to the right bank of the Samur River and buried him in the village of Hazra.
