Agricultural Research Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- The Academy of Agricultural Science in the DPRK directs efforts to boosting the productivity of dry-field rice, true to the resolutions of the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Research into the breeding of new high-yield and disaster-resistant strains is progressing apace.

Researchers of the Rice Research Institute have concentrated their efforts on developing good species with a short period of growth and high productivity. The institute also promotes the research into effective methods of cultivating rice seedlings.

Those of the Institute of Agro-chemicalization have made progress in the development of seed-covering materials and seed disinfectants to boost the early growth of dry-field rice and reduce damage by various insects.

Officials and researchers of the academy are working hard to provide technical guarantee for all processes related to dry-field rice farming. -0-
