Bahrain, Egypt discuss cooperation to achieve SDGs

New York, July 18 (BNA): Amna bint Ahmed Al Romaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, and Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development, met with Dr. Hala Elsaid, Egypt's Minister of Planning and Economic Development.

The meeting came on the sideline of their participation in the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2023 held in New York under, the theme "Accelerating the Recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels,' with the aim of presenting Bahrain's Bahrain's Second Voluntary National Review on the progress toward achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Al Romaihi highlighted the ministry's plans to provide housing services to citizens along with the programs recently launched to provide immediate and sustainable housing services.

She noted the progress made in urban planning and development, and the updating of regulatory standards to serve all sectors in Bahrain.

Al Khulaif reviewed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries to support sustainable development through joint programs and projects, as well as exchanging expertise in this field.

Elsaid praised Bahrain-Egypt relations and affirmed her keenness to strengthen cooperation, especially in achieving sustainable development goals.
