Bahrain participates in GCC Food Safety Committee meeting

Manama, June 10 (BNA): Health Minister, Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, has chaired the kingdom’s delegation participating in the seventh ministerial meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Food Safety Committee, held remotely by the GCC Secretariat-General.

Oman’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, and Assistant Secretary-General for Economic and Development Affairs at the GCC Secretariat General, Khalid bin Ali Al Sunaidi, delivered statements during the opening session.

The participants discussed a spectrum of topics, including the GCC Guide for Control on Imported Foods and the GCC Unified Food Law, among other topics.

They also discussed the establishment of a GCC Centre for Food Safety GCC countries’ celebration of the World Food Safety Day.

The kingdom’s participation in the ministerial meeting is within its keenness to continue building on the achievements of the joint GCC action, particularly regarding efforts to ensure food safety.
