2012 To Be Record Breaking Year For M'sian International Furniture Fair

KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) is expected to achieve a record-breaking year in terms of sales value this year. Chairman of MIFF, Dr Tan Chin Huat said based on buyers' response, he is optimistic that sales will be better this year than the US$778 million recorded last year. "We hope to break the US$800 million mark this year," Tan said at the opening ceremony of the trade fair on Tuesday. MIFF is now one of the top 10 furniture trade shows in the world, he added. The annual five-day trade show, starting Tuesday, March 6, is a top 10 global industry fair covering a total of 75,000 sq metres of exhibition space at Putra World Trade Centre and nearby Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. "MIFF is the largest platform for Malaysian furniture, reputed for its timber products made from hard rubberwood," he said. Moving forward, Tan said MIFF has tied up with United Kingdom's United Business Media Asia (UBM), one of the largest exhibition organisers in the world. "With UBM's extensive international reach and professional trade show expertise, we can look forward to taking MIFF to even greater heights," Tan said. Some 500 exhibitors are participating in MIFF 2012, which also attracted thousands of buyers from around the world. -- BERNAMA
