ADB Set To Finish Development Of Ciujung River Area

Serang, Banten, July 16 (Antara) - The Manila-based Asian Development Bank (ADB) hopes to finish work to develop area on the Ciujung river bank in the sub-district of Keragilan, Banten, in 2015 to protect the area from more flooding. Eric Quincieu, a specialist of the Water Resources Management Representative of ADB , said the damage caused by a recent flooding caused by swelling water from the Ciujung river was quite serious. Therefore, ADB would support efforts by the government in this case the public works ministry to prevent a recurrence of the disaster, Eric Quincieu said here on Tuesday. ADB will provide financial support, Eric said at a meeting with Serang city and district and regional officials. If the process of cooperation goes as expected, ADB was confident the project could be wrapped up in 2015. he said. Head of the Cidanau, Ciujung, and Cidurian River Area Meeting Hall Abdul Hanan Akhmad said soem of the villagers on the river banks have to be relocated. "We will consider compensation for the houses and land used by the villager," Abdul Hanan said.
