AirAsia Deploys New Management System

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 (Bernama) -- Budget carrier, AirAsia, has deployed the first element of the new cutting-edge airline management system, merlot.aero. In a statement Friday, the airline said its guests could now expect even better customer service with the implementation of the system, which was envisaged to vastly improve AirAsia’s operational efficiency. AirAsia Bhd chief operating officer, Bo Lingam, said the system was expected to optimise AirAsia's aircraft and crew utilisation, making it possible for the airline to further improve its on-time performance and minimise costs, among others. "With the new system in place, AirAsia will be able to boost the on-time performance of our flights and maximise the use of our aircraft to serve more routes and increase frequency. "We are looking forward to substantial cost savings, which we can pass on to our guests in the form of low fares," he said. He said the system would be used by the entire AirAsia Group throughout the region and by its sister company, AirAsia X. "The full implementation of the system is expected to be completed by mid 2012," he said. -- BERNAMA
