Another Cruise Ship To Visit Sabang

Banda Aceh, Aceh, March 20 (Antara) - In less than two weeks, another cruise ship with hundreds of tourists is expected to arrive in Sabang, Aceh Province, on Friday, local Culture and Tourism Office spokesman M Ali Taufiq said here on Wednesday. "We are preparing various cultural attraction to greet the tourists who will arrive in Sabang by MV Seabourn Pride," Ali Taufik said. According to him, some six cruise ships with tourists from many countries are scheduled to visit the leading Aceh tourist destination of Sabang during this year. Last Tuesday, March 12, 2012, around 400 foreign tourists visited Sabang tourists resort in the Indonesian westernmost province of Aceh by Silver Whisper cruise ship. The 186 meter-long cruise ship flying Bahamas flag left Phuket (Thailand) before arriving in Sabang on Tuesday at 12.00 noon, Ali Taufiq said. Later on the day or at 5.00pm, the ship departed to Colombo, he said, adding that upon their arrival in Sabang, the tourists were welcomed by Aceh traditional dances such as the Ranub Lampuan. Sabang located in Pulau Weh or about 14 miles from Banda Aceh coast, was one of the prime tourist destination in Indonesia. According to Taufiq, the local tourist office provided 25 cars of L-300 minibus type to treat the foreign visitors.
