APM 2012 To Showcase New Marine Engineering & Port Technology

By Tengku Noor Shamsiah Tengku Abdullah SINGAPORE, March 8 (Bernama) -- The Asia-Pacific Maritime 2012 (APM 2012), the one-stop market for the region’s maritime community, will showcase the latest in marine engineering and port technology from March 14-16. In a statement, organiser Reed Exhibitions said this year, over 1,300 leading international maritime companies from 53 countries would take part in the exhibition and conference. "This is a 40 per cent increase as compared to the last edition in 2010, with over 100 new products to be exhibited," it said. It said the show would also bring together over 70 world maritime leaders and host 14 official pavilions including from Asian shipping giants, China, South Korea and Japan. President of ClassNK and vice-chairman of the International Association of Classification Societies Ltd, Noboru Ueda, said China, South Korea and Japan had long been the world’s leading shipbuilding nations, and they were home to a large and growing number of ship owners, manufacturers and other related industries. "At the same time, Singapore has grown to become a maritime centre unparalleled in the world in terms of its concentration of shipowners, operators and financial institutions," he said. Ueda will be one of the keynote speakers at APM 2012. Other participants include maritime heavyweights like COSCO (Weihai) Shipbuilding Marine Technology Co Ltd, ExxonMobil Marine Lubricants, Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd, Rolls-Royce, Shell Eastern Trading (Pte) Ltd, Siemens Pte Ltd and SINOTRANS&CSC.
