Arab Spring withers Turkish exports
ANKARA (A.A) - January 5, 2012 - The Arab Spring withered Turkey's exports.
While Turkey's exports in 2011 increased by 18.17 percent when compared to the previous year, its exports to five countries affected by the Arab Spring declined by 13 percent.
In 2010, Turkish exports to Egypt, Syria, Libya, Tunisia and Yemen constituted 6.48 percent of all Turkish exports. This figure dropped to 4.74 percent in 2011.
Below is a table obtained from the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) showing Turkey's exports to the five countries affected by the Arab Spring in 2010 and 2011.
