Bangkok-Chiang Mai high speed train project goes ahead

BANGKOK, Aug 30 (TNA) – Thailand and Japan are working on the studies of the Bangkok-Chiang Mai high speed rail project. Thailand and Japan are working on the joint ventures to invest in the 400 billion baht Bangkok-Chiang high speed train project. The feasibility studies are being conducted and Japan suggested that high speed train platform at Bang Sue station must be separated from other rail systems for the highest safety and Thailand may have to change the designs of the station. Both sides have not reached the conclusion yet while Thai Transport Minister Arkhom Termpitayapaisit said that Thailand has the master plan for the development of the Bang Sue central station and will go ahead with the framework of the master plan on the form of investment and the construction model. Thailand will wait for the opinions from Japan before it could set the time-frame for the start of the construction and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two sides, he said.
