Domestic Investment Companies Invest Rp251 Billion In Batam

Batam, Riau Islands, Feb 6 (Antara) - There were 22 domestic investment (PMDN) companies investing Rp251 billion providing 582 jobs in Batam, Riau Islands province in 2013. Head of the Batam city investment agency Gustian Riau said the investment rose from the previous year. Gustian said investment in the free trade and port area had continued to increase from year to year, both domestic and foreign investments. He said most of the 22 companies invested in development and management of industrial; estates, ship and boat building industry, trading and service industries. Meanwhile record at the Batam administration board (BP Batam) showed there were 119 foreign companies investing US$394,000 in Batam in 2013. The investors came from British Virgin island, Pakistan, the Netherlands, Japan, Singapore, the United States, Malaysia, India, Myanmar, Norway, South Korea, Scotland and China.
