EJA To Invest US$12.6 Mln To Build Hangar At Senai Airport
JOHOR BAHARU (Malaysia), Dec 20 (Bernama) -- Air charter provider, Executive
Jets Asia (EJA), will invest RM40 million 12,591to construct hangar facilities at the
Senai Airport Aviation Park to cater for business jets ranging from the Airbus
A320 to B737. (US$1=RM3.18)
Chief Executive Officer Prithpal Singh said the Senai Airport was an
excellent location for the 7,400 square meter hangar which was expected to be
completed in three years.
The first phase, to be built on an 0.025 hectare site, will comprise the
hangar cum office and lounge, offices and spares storage, scheduled for
completion in the first quarter of next year, he said.
"We are very excited about this project. We hope to generate enough interest
and promote Senai Airport as an excellent location for business aviation.
"We are greatly encouraged by numerous enquiries from aircraft owners and
operators expressing their interest in wanting to use our facilities," he told
reporters after the ground breaking ceremony for the hangar here Tuesday.
He also said EJA hoped to lease a 0.025 hectare piece of land, adjacent to
the present site, for phase two of the hangar project.
Based in Seletar airport in Singapore, the company has been in the air
charter business for seven years.
Moving out from Seletar to Senai Airport would allow EJA to have more space
and facilities to maintain its own aircraft and enable it to expand into
maintenance and repair, aircraft repainting and interior refurbishing.
Prithpal also said EJA could create career opportunities for fresh
aeronautical graduates and many qualified Malaysian engineers who were
currently working overseas.
