Finance Minister Not Only "Goal Keeper" : Hatta

Jakarta, May 21 (Antara) - The finance minister is not only a "goal keeper" of the nation`s economy, but responsible to give fiscal and non fiscal incentive," Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa said here on Tuesday. "Therefore in the context of investment, the economic policy package that enable economic growth should be well kept," Hatta said during a seminar on reform and challenges. Hatta noted that as the new finance minister, Chatib Basri should do his tasks immediately because there was not much time left for him to make adjustment. Besides, he added that the new finance minister and the economic ranks should try to make transaction balance run and current account positive. "As we know that the current account is sometimes deficit, both in the revenues and expenditures. It should also be a homework for the new finance minister add our current account," Hatta said. He expressed hope that Chatib Basri, the new finance minister, and his ranks would continue to maintain the momentum of economic growth. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the State Palace here on Tuesday officially installed Muhammad Chatib Basri as the new finance minister to replace Agus Martowardojo. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Vice President Boediono, cabinet ministers, TNI Chief Admiral Agus Suhartono, National Police Chief Gen Timur Pradopo and other state institution officials. Chatib Basri was inaugurated as the new finance minister on the basis of Presidential Decree No 60/P/2013 which was signed on May 20, 2013.
