FREIGHT SIZE AND NUMBER OF PASSENGERS RISE

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of carried freight rose by 1,500.6 thousand tons or 9.8 per cent, and the number of carried passengers rose by 300.5 thousand people or 9.3 per cent. In the first 11 months of this year, 16,783.2 thousand tons freight and 3,540.0 thousand passengers at duplicated number were carried by railway transport. Revenue from railway transport increased by MNT 82.6 billion or 30.4 per cent to MNT 354.1 billion in the first 11 months of 2011, against the previous year. 2.6 thousand tons freight and 525.5 thousand passengers at the duplicated number were carried by air transport. The number of carried freight increased 1.1 thousand tons or 71.5 per cent, the number of carried passengers rose by 160.8 thousand people or 44.1 per cent. Revenue from air transport increased by MNT 44.2 billion or 41.8 per cent to MNT 149.9 billion in the first 11 months of 2011, against the previous year. B.Khuder
