Garuda Indonesia To Buy Bombardier CRJ100 NextGen Aircraft

By Tengku Noor Shamsiah Tengku Abdullah SINGAPORE, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Indonesia’s national airline, Garuda Indonesia, will acquire up to 36 Bombardier CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft to boost its domestic and regional operations. The airline signed a purchase agreement with Bombardier at the Singapore Airshow 2012 here Wednesday. The airline will take delivery of the first five CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft in the fourth quarter of 2012. Its president/chief executive officer, Emirsyah Satar, said the new aircraft would be an important part of the airline's ongoing fleet expansion and rejuvenation programme under the Quantum Leap strategy. "This is a very efficient aircraft, which I believe, will provide an additional level of comfort to our customers on domestic and regional flights. "With the new aircraft in our fleet, we will be able to add new destinations and more frequent connections which will provide travellers with more convenient access to our regional and long-haul network," he said. -- BERNAMA
