Germany, Thailand exchange agri know-how
BANGKOK, May 28 (TNA) -- Thailand’s Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry and Germany have exchanged agricultural technology and innovation while Germany has also invited Minister Chatchai Sarikulya to attend a Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) seminar to be held early next year in Berlin.
The invitation was made during talks between Theerapat Prayurasiddhi, permanent secretary for Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Deputy Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture Mr Bernd Udo Hahn.
The GFFA will be held from next January 19-21 during the International Green Week 2018 which will start between January 19-28 in Berlin.
Mr Theerapat said Mr Hahn had also requested his ministry to participate the fair and for Gen Chatchai to attend the GFFA seminar in which agriculture ministers from several countries in the world will discuss the future of global agriculture and current agricultural policies.
Also, Mr Hahn has invited Thai officers to visit German booth set up at THAIFEX-World of Food Asia 2017 which will start between May 31-June 4 at Impact Muang Thong Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok.
More than 2,100 companies from 45 countries will display their food and services at the fair.
As Thailand is embarking on the government-sponsored 4.0 agricultural innovative technology and cooperation on food security, Mr Hahn also asked Mr Theerapat on the ministry’s policy and on to achieve the goal.
Mr Theerapat also briefed the German officer on how serious the Thai government is trying to solve illegal fishery problem while the latter understood the government’s intention and will inform members of the European Union. (TNA)
