Govt finding ways to help low-income earners
BANGKOK, July 22 (TNA) -- In an attempt to push Thailand’s economy forward, the government is exploring ways to push purchasing power, especially of those low-income earners.
Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, responsible for economy in the country, said Thailand’s economy is improving steadily.
However, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has assigned concerned government agencies to find ways to assist agriculturists and low-income earners in a bid to strengthen local economy, said Mr Somkid.
On economy, Thailand’s exports during the second quarter expanded 10.94 per cent from first quarter while the government is trying to accelerate its investment, boost purchasing power of farmers and domestic tourism.
On local investment, talks were held with the The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Bangkok president Hiroki Mitsumata and the government was informed that Japanese investors have gained more confidence in doing businesses in Thailand.
JETRO will also hold discussions with related agencies in organising an event to mark the 130th anniversary Thailand-Japan trade relations to display strong confidence of Japanese businessmen investing in Thailand. (TNA)
