Indonesia Invites British Investors To The Country

London, April 4 (Antara) - Indonesia invited investors from British and other European countries to develop businesses in seven main sectors during the Financial Services Forum in London on Friday. According to the First Secretary of Indonesian Embassy in London, Hastin Dumadi, the event was held by the British government along with The City UK of London. The Indonesian Ambassador for Great Britain, Hamzah Thayeb, also attended the forum, which also had several speakers, such as Wahyu Utomo of the Economic Coordinating Ministry, Emma Sri Martini of Sarana Multi Infrastruktur Company, Yadi Jaya Ruchandi of Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia Company and Peter Mumfrod of the British Foreign Affairs Ministry. Hastin said the deputy chief of the Capital Plan of Investment Coordination Board Tamba Hutapea made a presentation in the "Investing in Indonesia`s Public Private Partnership (PPP) Program" session. Indonesia invited investors to develop businesses on seven main sectors, including value-added sectors in mining and agriculture sectors, import substitutions industry, consumption substitution industries on food and beverages, home appliances and oil rig facility. The delegations also introduced the potential business in construction materials industries, such as cement, textiles, electronics, machinery and pulp paper. Indonesia also offered potential in the tourism and creative industrial sectors, particularly in the 16 tourist destinations in the country. The delegation also introduced the infrastructure sector investment, including the construction of highways, railways, electricity supply, water supply, garbage disposal system, as well as sea and air transportation. The Indonesian government had allocated USD4.46 billion for infrastructure projects using the PPP scheme for 16 infrastructure projects in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Java and Papua as well as national projects in the field of information and communication technology. "The development project will include highway construction projects in Manado, Tanjung Priok toll road, Medan-Binjai toll road, Jakarta-Soekarno Hatta Airport railways, and water supplies in Bekasi and Bali," Wahyu Utomo said. Peter Mumford a British delegate expected that Indonesia could utilize consulting services and expertise from companies in Great Britain to develop the infrastructure projects. The forum was attended by more than 400 participants and many business men. Britain also held a special forum to introduce business potential in China, Turkey, Mexico, India, and Myanmar as well as the Middle East and the North African countries.
