Iran-Lebanon Hold 7th Joint Co-op Commission

Beirut, May 2, IRNA – The 7th joint cooperation commission of Iran and Lebanon was held here in the presence of Iran Minister of Road and Urban Planning Ali Nikzad as head of Iranian delegation and Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade Nicolas Nahas.
In the inauguration ceremony, Nahas expressed hope that trade relations could be promoted like political relations to its highest level.
Referring to Iran geographical position, Nahas called it an exporting gate for Lebanese goods to Central Asian countries.
He underlined necessity of finding techniques to accelerate transportation of goods between the two countries with the aim of promoting trade level.
The Lebanese minister pointed out Lebanon needs to use Iranian companies technical and engineering capacities to construct power plants, dams and produce clean energy.
Ali Nikzad, for his part, by referring to President Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon and signing different documents as well as agreements on promoting joint commission level to high committee, underlined high capacity of both countries for developing cooperation.
Referring to Iranian companies technical and engineering abilities in constructing electric power plants and dams in Lebanon, Nikzad expressed hope that this meeting could lead to removing obstacles on the way of execution of former agreements and increasing trade exchange level.
The outcome of the joint commission will be prepared to be submitted to the first high committee meeting to be held on Thursday here under chairmanship of Iran’s
First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati./end
