Japanese investors visited Government House
BANGKOK, Sept 11 (TNA) – More than 600 Japanese investors met the prime minister at Government House today during their visit on Sept 11-13 to celebrate the 130th anniversary of Thai-Japanese relations.
The delegation led by Hiroshige Seko, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, called on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at 3.30pm. The delegation included representatives of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Organization for Small & Medium Enterprises and Regional Innovation, Japan (SMRJ). They were discussing the expansion of Thai-Japanese economic cooperation.
They were invited to pay a visit by Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak as more than 7,000 Japanese operators are investing in many industries in Thailand and both countries are celebrating the 130th anniversary of bilateral relations.
In its discussions with the delegation, the Thai government will present 10 industries to be seriously promoted, the East Economic Corridor (EEC), industrial and SME support, and investment in innovation, digital systems and technology.
The delegation will visit facilities supporting the EEC including U-Tapao airport, Laem Chabang and Hemaraj industrial estates and the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency.
More than 300 Thai operators including conglomerates like Charoen Pokphand, SCG, Thai Beverage, Central, Ajinomoto, Kubota Corp and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance that co-invest with Japan will meet the visiting delegation.
They are expected to seal deals on trade in raw materials and parts, technology transfers especially those on smart products, processed food, biotechnology, and aircraft, robotic and medical supply industries. (TNA)
