Kyrgyzstan plans to buy Internet from China

Bishkek, Jan. 12 / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan plans to buy Internet traffic from Chinese providers, Technical director of Kyrgyztelekom Marat Ismailov told Kabar Agency. Kyrgyzstan’s the only Internet supplier is Kazakhstan. In August 2016 Kazakhstan providers have sent notices to their Kyrgyz colleagues about the increase of tariffs for Internet services almost three times. At the same time these measures from the Kazakh providers have not been substantiated. Then Kyrgyzstan started to look for other options for delivery of Internet services. Technical director of Kyrgyztelekom Marat Ismailov said that, at the moment they are working to conclude an agreement with Chinese providers. Once it is signed, the Kyrgyz side will start to receive Internet from China. "We expect a response from them by the mid January," he said. At that the technical director of Kyrgyztelecom said that the cost of the Internet, obtained from China, will not be higher than of Kazakh providers. He also stressed that there will be no restrictions in the content in case of delivery of the Internet from China.
