Malaysian Minister To Attend2012 Davos Meet

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 (Bernama) -- Minister of International Trade and Industry Mustapa Mohamed will be attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting 2012 themed "The Great Transformation: Shaping New Models" in Davos, Switzerland. The annual meeting, which will focus on defining the future direction for global economic growth, gathering the support of stakeholders and driving the motion towards realising the future vision, is slated for Jan 25 to 29. In a statement Friday, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry said at the meeting, Mustapa will be a discussion leader, special guest and contributor respectively in a number of public, private and industry partnership sessions. "In addition to these scheduled sessions, Mustapa will have bilateral meetings to discuss areas of mutual interest relating to trade and investment with other trade ministers attending the forum. "He will also meet chief executive officers of some major companies to promote investment in Malaysia," the ministry said. It added that on the sidelines of the WEF meeting, Mustapa will also meet 25 other trade ministers to exchange views on the state of the multilateral trading system as well as progress that can be achieved in the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in 2012. -- BERNAMA
