Matrade Leads 15 M'sian Firms To Asia-Pacific Maritime 2012 In S'pore
By Tengku Noor Shamsiah Tengku Abdullah
SINGAPORE, March 14 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia External Trade Development
Corporation (Matrade) is leading a 15-member delegation of maritime companies
to the Asia-Pacific Maritime (APM) 2012.
The three-day exhibition and conference opens Wednesday at the Sands
Exhibition and Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands Singapore.
Matrade Singapore Trade Commissioner Naim Abdul Rahman said eight exhibitors
at the Malaysia Pavilion APM 2012 are also attending the APM 2012.
The Malaysian delegation comprises Association of Marine Industries of
Malaysia (AMIM) and Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology
(MIGHT)," he told Bernama.
"Besides one-to-one business meetings, we are also holding our
Malaysia-Singapore Maritime Industry Networking session.
"The event will see presentations from AMIM and Association of Singapore
Marine Industries (ASMI)," he said.
APM 2012, dubbed the "one-stop market" for the region’s maritime community,
showcases latest advances in marine engineering and port technology.
Regarded by the industry as the region’s premier maritime event, the APM
will be featuring shipbuilding, marine, workboat and offshore segments.
It offers a holistic business experience by combining a comprehensive
exhibition, high-powered conferences and seminars, and a host of networking
sessions that connect quality Asia-Pacific buyers to international maritime
suppliers.
This year, over 1,300 leading international maritime companies from 53
countries are taking part in the three-day exhibition and conference.
The APM also brings together some 70 world maritime thought-leaders and
host 14 official pavilions, including Asian shipping giants -- China, South
Korea and Japan -- as they return with bigger pavilions and higher participation
numbers.
With shipping trade in Asia going strong, industry experts have expressed
confidence in the rise of Asia’s influence as a major player in global
shipping.
