More OSSCs to be opened for facilitating migrant workers

BANGKOK, July 12 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has ordered the opening up of more one stop service centers (OSSCs) to provide integrated services for needed migrant workers in the country. Thai Government Spokesman Lieutenant General Sansern Kaewkamnerd told journalists of the prime minister's instruction after the Cabinet's weekly meeting at Bangkok's Government House on July 11. The spokesman said that the OSSCs to be opened by the prime minister's order will provide integrated services for migrant workers who need to contact many Thai government agencies, including the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Interior and the Police Immigration Bureau. According to the prime minister, the OSSCs for migrant workers will be opened at the Thai Ministry of Labour's employment offices in Bangkok and other provinces nationwide. The spokesman noted that the OSSCs is aimed to facilitate both legal and illegal migrant workers. The Thai premier's order followed the exodus of tens of thousands of migrant workers crowding out border checkpoints to their home countries recently for their nationality verification processes as required by a new Thai law, which take time and may affect labor-intensive businesses in Thailand.
