N Sulawesi Exports 15,450 Tons Of Copra Oil Cake To India

Manado, N Sulawesi, Aug 15 (Antara) - The North Sulawesi province has exported 15,450 tons of copra oil cake to India during the first semester of 2014, Olvie Atteng, the head of the provincial trade and industry office, stated here on Friday. "The export of 15,450 tons of copra cake to India has contributed US$3.71 million worth of foreign exchange," Olvie noted, adding that India is a major importer of copra cake, and hopefully, the province can meet the requirements. Olvie remarked that India is known as an excellent potential market for North Sulawesi`s commodities, with copra cake and its derivatives as new products. "Copra cakes exported to this country are processed in a cooking oil processing factory in North Sulawesi," Olvie noted. The trade and industry office continues to offer assistance to copra farmers and exporters to constantly show innovation in processing copra to get new derivative products. "Copra can be further processed into hundreds of products. North Sulawesi is currently exporting crude palm oil, cooking oil, copra, coconut cake, and coconut flour," Olvie stated.
