NEC Wins Asia-Pacific Gateway Submarine Cable System Job

SINGAPORE, Dec 20 (Bernama) -- NEC Corp has won a multi-million dollar supply contract from a global consortium of communications companies, including NTT Communications, KT, Chunghwa Telecom, and others, to construct the Asia-Pacific Gateway (APG) system. In a statement on Tuesday, NEC associate senior vice president, Nobuyuki Yanaginuma, said the company would continue to dedicate its strength to the development of telecommunication infrastructure in these and other countries across the globe. "We are honoured to have been selected as the supplier of the APG system," he said. APG system is a high-bandwidth optical submarine cable system that will link nine countries and territories in Asia. The total length is expected to be 10,400km, linking China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore. -- BERNAMA Malaysia
