Ngurah Rai Prepares Parking Space For VIP Aircraft
Jimbaran, Bali, May 10 (ANTARA) - Bali`s International Ngurah Rai Airport is preparing a special parking space for medium-sized aircraft ahead of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in October this year.
"It will only be able to accommodate up to 14 aircraft," the general manager of airport operator Angkasa Pura I, Purwanto, said here on Friday.
He said the parking space is prepared for medium-sized aircraft usually chartered by rich tourists or used by state and VIP guests in anticipation of the arrivals of many chartered airplanes ahead of the APEC Summit.
"Actually the number of chartered airplanes arriving at the airport reaches 1,000 a year and around 60 percent of them from various countries in the world," he said.
The growth of arrivals using chartered airplanes which are usually unscheduled has indeed been quite high recorded at around 15 percent a year.
Purwanto said the growth of domestic passenger arrivals was recorded at 21 percent this year while of overseas passenger at around nine percent.
Regarding current development work at the airport he said that it has reached 80 percent of the target.
