Nickel Main Export Commodity Of South Sulawesi

Makassar, June 10 (Antara) - Nickel remains the largest export earner of South Sulawesi among six groups of its export commodities. Nickel exports from the province were worth US$86.17 million in April, the South Sulawesi branch of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said. "Nickel contributed significantly to an increase in South Sulawesi`s export earning in April, 2013, head of the regional office of BPS Nursam Salam said here on Monday. The nickel exports in April rose 27.94 percent from US$67.35 million in the previous month, Nursam said. Year-on-year the exports in April rose 210 percent, he added. The second largest export earner in April was cacao beans exports of which were valued at US$14.99 million , followed by oilseed and medicines valued at US$7.38 million, and fish including shrimp and crabs valued at US$7.13 million . Exports of cacao beans, fish, shrimp and crab dropped 34.43 percent from March.
