PM satisfies on upgrading of Thailand’s GCI
BANGKOK, Sept 30 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is satisfied when learning that Thailand’s Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) for 2017, assessed by World Economic Forum, is upgraded to 32nd position, two-notch point better than last year, said a government spokesman.
Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd told reporters that the premier said the government is following the right path while he also believes that the report would help build more confidence among Thai and foreign would-be investors.
The upgrade is not an easy task and it could be seen that the government in the past 2-3 years has put efforts in developing every infrastructure, especially in transportation and an internet systems, said Lt Gen Sansern said.
He said the prime minister has also acknowledged that Thailand’s financial and marketing standards have also improved like many other developed countries.
However, what the government has to further developed are political stability, legal procedures, protection of intellectual property rights and spreading technological development to every part of Thailand, Lt Gen Sansern added. (TNA)
