"Pulang Pandang" Island As New Tourist Resort At S Sumatra
Batubara, S Sumatra, March 18 (Antara) - South Sumatra has offered Pulang Pandang and Salah Nama Islands located in Batubara District as new tourist objects which have beautiful nature panorama.
Both islands are still untouched, undeveloped and have incredible view, therefore domestic and foreign tourists have to know the Islands, a citizen of local area Ruslan (47) said here on Monday.
Pulang Pandang Island is located on northern Tanjung Tiram Island that is surrounded by the sea.
Salah Nama Island, which is not far from Pulang Pandang, is rich of coral reefs and colorful ornamental fish.
"The location is the best for travelers who like diving and enjoying the beauty of the flora and fauna existing on the island," he said.
Ruslan said, the new tourist resort will boost the local economy and generate other benefits for the people of Batubara District.
Batubara is not only well known as agriculture, livestock and fisheries area but also has a number of interesting tourist objects, which are not fully developed by the local government yet, according to Ruslan.
"Supports and help from the government and investors are expected to build both islands that are very potential to develop the east coast area of Sumatra," he said.
Furthermore, Batubara has a lot of isles and beaches that are not less interesting compared to other areas such as Bali and Pangandaran beaches in West Java.
Some islands such as Perjuangan Island and Bunga Beach have particular attractions.
Perjuangan Island has white sand stretching 800 meters long in Medang Deras Subdistrict, Batubara District. The island hosted International Maritime Sport Festival for Youth in 2009.
Bunga Beach has beautiful scenery and a 500-meter-long tunnel built by Japanese soldiers during World War II. Thus, the island also offers historical objects.
