Ranhill Inks MoU On Jakarta Water Project

KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- Ranhill Utilities Bhd's unit has executed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with consortium partners to cooperate in a project to develop a drinking water system from Jatiluhur dam and to distribute the drinking water into five areas in Jakarta, Indonesia. In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, the company said its subsidiary, Ranhill Capital Sdn Bhd (Ranhill Capital), inked the MoU and a consortium agreement with Maynilad Water Services Inc (Maynilad), Metropac Water Investments Corporation (MWIC), Pt Varsha Zamindo Lestari (Varsha) and Perusahaan Perseroan Pt Pembangunan Perumahan Tbk (PP). “Ranhill was invited to collaborate with the parties by taking over the role of Maynilad and MWIC. “On May 29, 2020, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing of the Republic of Indonesia issued a letter to proceed to the parties, authorising us to exclusively conduct feasibility studies on the project,” it said. The five areas in Jakarta include Bekasi City and Bekasi, Kararawang and Bogor districts, based on the allocation of raw water of 10,000 litres per second from the Jatiluhur dam. Ranhill Capital would lead in overseeing the overall development of the project, including the conduct and progress of the feasibility studies. Ranhill Capital will be the consortium leader with a 74.84 per cent interest. The remaining agreed participation structure is shared among Maynilad and MWIC (0.16 per cent), Varsha (10 per cent) and PP (15 per cent). --BERNAMA
